West Michigan Warriors
AAA Hockey

1988-2000

This is the official Web Page for the West Michigan Warriors AAA Hockey Team, a member of the Michigan National Hockey League, the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association and USA Hockey.

The West Michigan Warriors Association was formed in 1988 to bring AAA hockey to the West Michigan Area. The Warriors consisted of players from various cities throughout western Michigan and northern Indiana to match the population base which our competition was able to draw from in areas such as Detroit and Toronto. Players living in West Michigan were in a protected area designated by the league with the intent, not to prevent kids from playing in Detroit, but to help West Michigan develop competitive teams and allow players to stay home and develop their skills

AAA hockey is an integral part in promoting youth players to junior, college and professional careers. Together with house and A/AA travel programs, the West Michigan Warriors offered players the opportunity to stay in West Michigan and develop the skills necessary to compete at the highest levels of youth hockey. AAA hockey was not meant to be a substitute to our local A/AA travel programs in West Michigan, but a vital link in player development to the junior and college level

Over the next few weeks, we will be updating our Alumni list to highlight those players at the Junior A, Collegiate or professional levels who have, at one time or another, come through the Warriors program. This developmental opportunity will no longer be availabe to players in the western Michigan area and will be sorely missed. After twelve years of existence, the Warriors' local talent has been emerging into the collegiate and professional ranks.
