Instead of fishing in the Boundary Waters, our crew uses the time to paddle, explore, and see wildllife. This year we went into the Ham Lake entrance and camped on Cross Bay Lake. The experience was highlighted by great weather, a stubborn dog, and great friendships. As always we prepared food fit for a king, went swimming to cool off, and shared many laughs and stories. Below are some of the pictures from the trip.
Boo and Tor getting out to explore a hidden falls and lake.
One of the two hidden falls that we found.
A classic BWCA scene
Cooling off at the hidden lake. Looks like someone might have camped here at
one time.
Tim-Bob traversing the falls....Don't Fall Bob!!
Tim, Adrienne, and Payton preparing dinner over the campfire. The fears of a
massive forest fire caused by dry conditions and the 4th of July storm blowdown
had caused a complete campfire ban. Thankfully we were allowed to have them
this year. The ban was lifted days before we arrived.
A family of young loons takes off as we approach in our canoes.
The sun sets over the lake.
The clouds play tricks with our eyes...Are those mountains? No, but they sure
look like them.
Steph and Boo come out from under the rain fly. It rained hard for 2-3 hours
one evening. Just enough to keep the mosquitos happy as they attacked us throughout
the weekend.
My buddy, Steph, admiring the sunset over the lake.
