Whoo hoo!!! Mark beat Alex O'Brien!! I was a little nervous after that first set...I checked the score on my computer and saw Mark was down a set and I freaked out...then I went to try to catch the rest of the match on TV and they didn't show ANY of it, so I had to check the computer again later. So next up is Daniele Bracciali on Court 3, today around 8 am EDT. I'm not really expecting them to show this on TV (I mean, who IS Daniele Bracciali anyway? I don't know.), but you never know. Maybe on the highlights show. (7 pm EDT on HBO)
Thanks to Stephanie for letting me know about the broken links for the new Phili pics...I thought I saved them right but I guess not. They're all fixed now. :o) I've been making the pics as big as I possibly can lately, now that Geocities is giving me 11 MB of space...did you notice? I know a lot of people have emailed me telling me some of the pics aren't big enough...Oh, and I put in a new GuestWorld guestbook because the old one wasn't working right, and it's really empty, so please sign it!! :o)
I've been having a lot of problems with the surf.to server lately, meaning that most of the time it doesn't work at all, and has been directing me to a geocities 404 error a lot. So til I get this cleared up, you might want to try using http://www.geocities.com/colosseum/arena/main.html to reach my main page. As always, if you have any suggestions or something you think I should add to the page, mail or ICQ (#9405392) me!
Here's what Tennis Match (June/July 98) has to say about Mark and Anna:
"...And now for the other teenage barbarella, the Russian spice girl, Anna Kournikova. The newly 17-year-old blond bombshell was seen siding up to Aussie hunk Mark Philippoussis, a top 20 ranked player, in the Lipton player's lounge. And they arrived together at the player party and left the same way after their attempt to dance was covered by a swarm of photographers. The two obviously went their separate ways from there, however, because Kournikova was spotted later that night with another ATP tour stud, No. 61 ranked Ecuadorian Nicolas Lapenti, at a nearby South Beach hotspot. Anna and Mark did spend plenty of time during the Lipton but one tour insider told us that Philippoussis is "not sure where he stands on her list"."
So. Draw your own conclusions there. Here's the accompanying picture, apparently taken by one of the "swarm of photographers". :o)
