Rams agree to terms with free agent Proehl

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (February 24, 1998) — Unrestricted free agent wide receiver Ricky Proehl joined his third NFL team in as many seasons when he agreed to a deal with the St. Louis Rams.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Proehl, who turns 30 next month, signed with the Bears prior to last season and led the team in receptions (58), receiving yards (753) and touchdowns (7).

Proehl played his first five NFL seasons with the Phoenix-Arizona Cardinals before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks prior to the 1995 season. He played two seasons in Seattle before leaving via free agency for Chicago.

In 330 career games, Proehl has 330 catches for 4,931 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Proehl joins a St. Louis receiving corps that features Isaac Bruce but ranked just 17th in the league in passing offense last season.
