Rams retain versatile Lee

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (February 20, 1998) — Amp Lee, the NFL's top pass-catching running back in 1997, has re-signed with the St. Louis Rams. Terms were not disclosed.

Lee had 61 catches for 825 yards and 28 carries for 104 yards in his first year with the Rams last season.

The 26-year-old was signed by the Rams as an unrestricted free agent in 1997 after spending the first five years of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings.

Lee, a second-round pick of the 49ers in 1992, played two seasons in San Francisco before joining the Vikings in 1994. He caught a career-high 71 passes for 558 yards for Minnesota in 1995.
