Bono trade means Rams
probably won't draft QB

Last week's unexpected trade for Green Bay's Steve Bono all but took the Rams out of the market for a quarterback in the draft.
``It doesn't eliminate it, but the probability is not high,'' coach Dick Vermeil said.
Prior to the trade, the Rams were thinking developmental quarterback -- a diamond in the rough -- somewhere in the middle or late rounds. Auburn's Dameyune Craig made a predraft visit to Rams Park.
But the Rams have four quarterbacks under contract. Most teams take only four QBs into training camp, and then three into the regular season.
This is a key year for starter Tony Banks -- he's in the third year of a three-year contract. He can cash in, or get cashiered. Some in the organization are nervous about Banks, but with two years invested in him as a starter it would be foolish to discard him now and start from scratch.
Will Furrer recently signed a two-year deal and will battle Bono for the No. 2 job. The Rams have prospect Kurt Warner, formerly of the Arena Football League and Northern Iowa, playing in NFL Europe (formerly the World Football League).
What happens if Michigan's Brian Griese is still on the board in the fourth round, when the Rams have two picks? Will Vermeil be tempted?
