Enis stops by to visit Rams

Curtis Enis got his first look at Rams Park and a peek at St. Louis on Monday. In 19 days, the Penn State running back will know if he's bringing the rest of the family -- for good.
Enis' parents and sister will live with him, no matter where he ends up playing in the National Football League.
``I'll probably come in and play right away,'' Enis explained. ``I won't have to worry about so many little things with my mom and my dad there to help me out.''
As a sure top 10 pick in the draft, Enis is all but certain to start wherever he plays. In the past two seasons at Penn State, Enis rushed for nearly 2,600 yards and 32 touchdowns. At just under 6 feet 1, and 249 pounds, he's the type of back who moves the pile and moves the chains. He won't dazzle you with breakaway moves or blinding speed.
Monday's visit to Rams Park was only the first of many. Enis' agent, Vann McElroy, said Enis also will visit Chicago, Arizona, Jacksonville and Baltimore. New England also has jumped into the fray after deciding not to match the New York Jets' offer to restricted free agent Curtis Martin.
``It's going to be exciting to get somewhere, put a helmet on, and start practicing,'' said Enis, who has a tendency to smile a lot and call everybody sir or ma'am. ``I'm looking forward to minicamp more than I am the draft.''
Enis worked out for pro scouts Friday at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. He opened eyes with a vertical leap of 35 inches. He was timed between the high 4.4s and the high 4.5s in the 40-yard dash, even though he pulled up with a few steps to go with a strained thigh muscle.
Rams coach Dick Vermeil makes no secret about how much he likes Enis. With the Rams picking sixth overall when the draft begins April 18, Enis is a logical choice. But Arizona currently picks third in the opening round. Jacksonville and New England are interested in trading up with Chicago at the No. 5 spot to nab Enis.
Back to Macomb: As expected, the Rams have announced they are returning to Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill., for training camp next season.
