This is a series of photos diagramming the process of the restoration of our boat.
These are the pictures I took when we first went to look at the boat.
I realized I was in serious trouble when I went to vacuum the debris from the boat and the carpet came up in little pieces
After removing the engine (I had stepped through the floorboard in the process) I realized I had more than cosmetic work to do on this boat. I thought I could just remove the engine, replace the floorboard and we would be back in business. After I removed all the floor boards I found that the lower third of the transom was also rotten, so the sterndrive had to come out as well
The demolition of the old rotten wood was relatively simple, I was done with that process in about 3 weeks. The next phase of cutting out new stringers, transom and floorboards took me almost another 6 months to complete. That inlcuded reseaching the adhesive that I wanted to use. After much investigation I decided to use an epoxy system sold by a local plastic supply chain in our area. I am satisfied with the results to this point although it has taken me exactly one year to get to this point. The next step is to reconstruct the seats and frames
I enlisted my wife to help rebuild the seating. The wood for the seats and the seat frames was almost as bad as the floorboards. We carefully disassembled the seat to use the foam, vinyl and wood as patterns for the seats we were attempting to replace.
