Proceed East on Hillsdale Blvd. for 1.2 miles (5 stop lights) to Shell Blvd. Turn right on Shell Blvd. and then right again (second possible right) into the Foster City Community Recreation Center parking lot.
PARKING: Trailers will park in the Recreation Center Parking Lot in the center most rows at right angles to the waterway. Please follow our parking instructions carefully so we can get all the big trailers in that lot. Car toppers should park in the North East corner of the Rec. Center parking lot. We will try to leave the parking spots nearest the water open so boats can be maneuvered easily. Ample parking is available for cars without boats in the large parking lot across Shell Blvd. or on the street. If you are not pulling or carrying boats please do NOT park in the Rec. Center Parking Lot. Some parking is also available on the East side of the tennis courts and along Hillsdale Blvd. next to Leo J Ryan Park.
REGISTRATION: Opens at 7:15 AM Sunday at the registration tent on the SW side of the Recreation Center. Each registered boat will receive a packet containing a boat number (required for all participating boats), course maps and the final race day schedule. You will not be given your packet unless every member of your crew has signed a waiver. Your boat must have a bow clip, bow ball and heal restraints for any shoes. You must also bring a hard plastic bow number - we will give you a paper boat number that will fit over your plastic one.
COACHES/COX'NS/"BLIND" BOATMENS MEETING: This mandatory meeting will be held at 8:00 AM sharp near the registration tent.
WEIGH-INS: Cox'ns and light weights may weigh in between 7:30-8:00 AM. Coxns must weigh at least 110 lb. or bring enough weight to reach the minimum. Weight must be carried in the boat as close to the torso as possible. Light weight men and women must weigh no more than 165 lb. and 135 lb. respectively.
THE LAGOON RACE COURSE: The course starts at the North end of the Lagoon and traces a path shaped like the numeral "2", passing under three bridges, along the boardwalk at Central Lake and finishing just after Edgewater Shopping Center, a distance of 3.1 miles (5,000 meters). The course is clearly marked with 16" orange BemaTM buoys every 100m as well as 48" bridge span markers and 1m3 mile markers. Racing begins with rolling starts and 10 seconds between boats. You should leave yourself at least 20 min. to row from the docks in Central Lake to the start line.
RACE RULES: The overtaking boat has the right of way and slower crews must yield and move to the outside of any curve. No passing under (or 100m before) any bridge - HOLD YOUR POSITION AND LINE UNTIL YOU ARE THROUGH THE BRIDGE. YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF YOU ROW IN AN UNSPORTSMAN LIKE MANNER OR PASS ANY LARGE 48" BUOY ON THE WRONG SIDE, EITHER UNDER A BRIDGE OR IN CENTRAL LAKE. You must keep rowing for at least 200m beyond the finish line. Obey all inland water rules when encountering traffic in return lanes. SAFETY of your crew and others always!
