Nov. 1995 - Present: US Air Force/National Security Agency, Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland

Position: Communications Computer Systems Administrator

Duties: Performs setup and configuration of computer hardware, setting correct operating system and environment variables. Provides network security through password, alias and group files maintenance. Monitors system performance, performs diagnostics on malfunctions and performs system repair and recovery.

Highlights: Deployed and integrated Windows NT 4.0 workstations and created network compatibilty with Windows for Workgroups, SunOS, Sun Solaris, and IBM RISC/6000 AIX workstations. Developed solutions in integrating hardware across multiple system architectures saving the agency from purchasing additional equipment. Hand-picked as team leader, responsible for developing, transitioning and training of IBM RISC/6000 AIX workstations.

 

Nov. 1992 - Nov. 1995: US Air Force/3rd Communications Squadron, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska

Position: World Wide Military Command and Control Systems (WWMCCS)/Global Command and Control Systems (GCCS) Data Communications Technician

Duties: Operates, maintains, and assists in the installation and upgrade of communications circuits and equipment for the WWMCCS and GCCS systems in support of all Alaskan military sites. Configures modems, multiplexors, and secure encryption devices for operations. Troubleshoots circuit failures and repairs twisted pair cable and fiber-optic segments.

Highlights: Designed and installed a building-wide, protected, distribution system and a fiber-optic communications wide area network meeting 100 percent of established compliance standards. Configured and managed an automated office communications system utilizing excess spare equipment establishing a common database for all personnel. Authored and streamlined local area network server utility programs reducing processor utilization by 30 percent in addition to freeing up valuable data base areas. Personally responsible for configuring and operating a Joint Deployable Intelligence Support System terminal at Ft. Polk, Louisiana demonstrating the first-ever GCCS to intelligence data systems interoperability in Alaska.
