Reggie Walker was just 19 years old when he set a new Olympic record for the 100 m (10.8 sec) to win the Gold medal on 22 July 1908 at London and become South Africa's first Olympic champion.
12 South African athletes have been Olympic champion before WW2, winning as many Gold.
