Yuka's mother, Kumiko Sato was a 2-time Japanese champion who placed 8th at the 1968 Grenoble Olympics. She is now a choreographer in Japan.

Yuka's father, Nobuo Sato, was a 10-time Japanese champion who also placed 8th at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics. He is now a coach in Japan.
