Tony Dziepak's EAS Contest Page

I completed Round 4 of the "EAS Body of Work Challenge": April 15-July 8, 1999. The current contest is called "Body for Life."

My background

I have been competing in Scottish highland games, when I suffered a major back injury. I had to do therapy all winter, and I had lost all of my strength and gained quite a bit of bodyfat. When I was competing in highland games, my bodyweight was in the 240-245 range and my bodyfat was between 15 and 20 percent. After my injury, I couldn't do any heavy lifting or throwing, and my strength and lean body mass gradually decreased throughout the winter. I lost weight and increased bodyfat.

I am quite happy with the results, and I am glad I did the contest. Basically, I went from my all-time worst condition ever to my best condition ever at a bodyweight over 200 lbs. (I was under 15% bodyfat in high school, but at that time I was under 200 lbs.)

I have three sets of photos with 3 shots each: front, back, and optional pose. The first set were my submitted "before" shots, taken on April 15th, my first official day of the competition, but after I have been training intensely for 3 days (my original "before" shots didn't come out, so I had to retake them). The second set is on May 10 after 4 weeks, and the third set is my "after 12 weeks" shots on July 8.

My results

HERE ARE MY PHOTO COMPARISONS.

STATS before after 4 weeks after 12 weeks
date 15 Apr 1999 12 May 1999 8 Jul 1999
bodyweight 226 lbs 213 lbs 203 lbs
lean weight 168 lbs 171 lbs 173 lbs
fat weight 63 lbs 42 lbs 31 lbs
bodyfat % 27.2 % 19.4 % 15.2 %
caliper skinfold measurements
triceps 21 mm 17 mm 14 mm
abdominal 34 mm 27 mm 16 mm
suprailiac 33 mm 15 mm 11 mm
thigh 30 mm 21 mm 19 mm

From the stats, I made more progress in the first four weeks than the last eight weeks. However, from the pictures, I believe that there is more of a dramatic appearance difference in the last 8 weeks. So the more in condition you get, the more a small measurement difference makes a large apppearance difference, but it is harder to achieve it.

HERE IS MY RECOMMENDED PROGRAM.
