Ranking of Throwing Programs

The purpose of this rankings is to provide a comparison of college throwing programs. The rankings are based on the trackshark.com final rankings in each division, so this does not include performances at regionals or national championships.

The success of the throwing program depends on several factors: scholarships available, recruiting, facilities, coaching, and otherwise. It is also highly variable year to year as it is also dependent on the results of individual throwers. I know some great coaches whose team did not make the rankings this year, so don't discount a school just because it is unranked this year. Also look at last year.

Athletes are counted multiple times in multiple events. Formula for all divisions is as follows: Score = 2 - list/N, where N is the number of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shortest list in that division. Events with longer lists are truncated to match the length of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shortest event list to avoid overweighting of a particular event. Lists go down to a minimum.
