Career Highlights
This page lists some of the highlights of The Woodies' career.
There have been many highlights of the Woodies career.
Perhaps
the most remarkable is winning five successive Wimbledon mens doubles titles,
1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997. A feat only emulated once before in tennis history.
Here
is an article from The Sydney Morning Herald (an Australian newspaper)
on their 1996 win.

The 1996 US Open provided another highlight in the career on the Woodies. Winning back to back titles gave them the honour of being the first mens doubles combination to do so since Roy Emerson and Fred Stolle in 1965 and 1966.

Australia Fair," the Australian
national anthem.
The
1996 Atlanta Olympic Games
was a real highlight for The Woodies. They won gold over Henman and Broad
of Great Britain, who, I must say, don't look very happy in the above photo...
The word is that The Woodies had to sit up the night before the Olympic games final learning the words to the Advance Australia Fair in case they won the gold medal. I guess they, like all good Aussies, don't know the words to the Australian national anthem. I expect to get a few flames over this remark!! So for the record, I actually do know the words. :-)
During their career, the Woodies
have won nine Grand Slam doubles titles:
- The Australian Open, 1992 and 1997.
- Wimbledon, 1993, 1994, 1995,
1996 and 1997
- The US Open, 1995 and 1996.
The eighth title (the 1997 Oz Open) took them past the record of seven career Grand Slam titles set by Stolle and Emerson, as well as McEnroe and Fleming. Yeehah!!!
