Representing the Rocky Mountain Environment Association (RMWEA) at the
national Operations Challenge competition for the third consecutive year,
the Rocky Mountain Prime Pumpers from Greeley Water Pollution Control Facility
(WPCF) finished 7th overall in Division I at Chicago on October 20-21,
1997. Having placed second at the regional competition on June 12th, the
Greeley team earned the privilege to attend the national competition and
knew that they had to work extra hard to be competitive. After spending
many hours preparing for the national competition, the WPCF team performed
admirably well and continue to move up in the national standings. The Prime
Pumpers' best event was "Process Control" where they narrowly missed receiving
a third place award by "0.09 of a point."
The Greeley team has now competed regionally for five years and at the
national level for three consecutive years. In 1995,
they competed nationally in Division II and the in 1996 moved up to Division
I. During this period, the Greeley team has steadily improved its national
ranking. Team members include: Ted Vogel (captain), Marc Ortiz, Bruce Reed,
Joe Kunovic and Tom Dingeman (coach). All members are looking forward to
another great finish at the RMWEA Regional Operations Challenge Competition
on June 19, 1998 in Northglenn, Colorado, and a return trip to the National
Competition in Orlando !
