The rains that have been plaguing Ceredigion of late held off, so there was noth
ing to ruin the official floodlight opening celebration or to stop Aber having a stroll in the park and knocking in a
few goals. Lampeter will have been happy just to stop the Seasiders scoring a ha
tful and in adding two goals themselves (or three if you count the own goal that came from a low cross
from Wyn Thomas). Aber's team included Donald Kane, Ken Williams and Malcolm Allen
to make it more of an occasion as well as the return of Jonathan Williams
who has apparently decided that Penrhyncoch is just too boring.
He played like the god he is and will soon be back in regular first team action
no doubt. The match itself was a typical friendly,
lacking in any vigour or passion but containing enough goals to retain the inter
est (three from Gavin Allen, two from Malcolm Allen, one from Phil McNeil
and the own goal). Aizlewood did the honours with the lights and Hag Harris had a
thwack at speaking in Welsh over the crackly PA:
Mae Cwlb Pel-Droed Tref Aberysytwyth yn tim da iawn
indeed.
