15.02.97 Aberystwyth Town 0-1 Conwy United

So it all comes down to the linesman. Aber drop two places in the league because one of the officials decides that he prefers tangerine to Grenn and Black. letting Steve Cross waltz a goal in after he had clearly been offside. A trawl of the shed could find no one who even said it was marginal. From where I was standing, some distance away, the phrase "impossible to say from here" stuck in the throat. The man was obviously offside.

Aber threw everything at Conwy for the entirety of the match, never flagging, although none of the players really stood out as potential match winners. In the second half Stev Williams was ineffective and McNeil and Harri had to be substituted, Phil cos otherwise his shirt would've had to be wrung out for days before it had dried. Gav had two attempts cleared off the line, Ry fought like a demon and both got booked for dissent. the referee over-ruled the linesman midway through the second half and, quite pointedly i thought, did not book Griff who had basically just physically and verbally abused the man.

For Conwy, their defence was tight and their close control superb. Bamford in goal did not have much to do because many Aber shots were simply blocked by the defnders.

So Aber lose again, regardless of the reasons, while the teams around them all got something today. Wednesday's match against Carmarthan is looking to be crucial, jst as the encounter earlier in the season was.

And on the way back, to sum up the entire day, Andy got stopped by the Heddlu for speeding, in Blaenpwlf. Magic, just Magic!
