Gazelles run past Central

The Golden Eagles found out why Yankton is the top ranked team in Class AA basketball, but they also found out that they can compete with the best. Yankton put together a big run to start the game and another to start the fourth quarter to down the Eagles 51-33 in a hard fought ESD battle. The win keeps Yankton unbeaten at 6-0 while Central drops to 6-2. The Gazelles built a 12 point lead in the game's first three minutes only to see Central come back to within one point just before the half. After an evenly played third quarter, Yanton took off on a 10-3 run to start the fourth and hit 8 of 8 freethrows down the stretch to stay in front. "We weathered the first storm but we couldn't weather the second one," said coach Robey.
