Eagles Blast Pierre 59 - 21

Central put the clamps on Pierre in a 59 - 21 season opening victory in Eastern South Dakota Conference girl's basketball action at the Civic Arena. "We felt pretty good about the way we played," said Central coach Derek Robey. "The last couple of weeks we've really been trying to stress our pressure defense. I really have to credit the girls, they really came out focused." In fact, Central held the Governors to just 4 points in the opening quarter. By then the Eagles had opened up a 10 point lead. With its defense in top form, Central was able to muster more than enough offense. Amy Fauth had 13 points and Hilary Aden 11 for Central, which forced 29 turnovers in the game.
