Central girls fall to Mitchell cagers

Defending State AA champion Mitchell took a 26-16 halftime lead and padded it with a third quarter spree to win 60-45. The Kernels outscored Central 18-11 in the third quarter. The Eagles came back in the final quarter to play evenly with Mitchell, but could not catch the Kernels. Robey said first game jitters haunted the Eagles, although it was their second game. "Our first game we played against a zone and tonight we faced a Mitchell team that plays intense man-to-man defense. We had to shift gears a little bit,"he said. Jen Murphy led the Eagles with 14 points. Melinda Oster's 18 points were tops for Mitchell while Jill Theeler tossed in 11 and Jodi Dierks 10.
