Eagles upset Pierre

Aberdeen Central upset the undefeated and second ranked Pierre Lady Govs on Friday night, 37-33. The Golden Eagles used a sticky zone defense to neutralize the Gov's inside power. Central held Pierre scoreless for a 7 1/2 minute stretch in the second half and built a 31-25 lead during that time, then held on down the stretch for the win. Pierre cut the lead to 35-33 with 16 seconds left in the game, but two freethows by Katie Norman iced the win for Aberdeen Central. The Eagles improve to 5-7 on the year and are in action next Tuesday when they travel to Mitchell to take on the Kernels in another ESD matchup.
