Eagles slip past winless Mitchell


After falling behing early 9-2, the Golden Eagles were able to rally past the Mitchell Kernels is ESD action at the Arena Friday night to post a 40-34 victory. Both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter and the Kernels held a 21-19 lead at the half. The Eagles eventually took the lead 24-23 with 3:39 left in the third period, a lead they would not relinquish. After builing a five point lead with just over two minutes to play, a three point play by Mitchell's Randi Morgan cut the lead to 36-34 with 2:17 to play and the Kernels would get no closer. Rebecca Goodman and Katie Norman each hit two free throws to make the final six point margin for the Eagles. Aberdeen Central improves to 2-2 on the year and travels to Watertown Saturday night to take on the winless Arrows.
