Eagles drop close battle at Brookings


Tonya Miller hit two freethrows with 13 seconds left, her only points of the game, to give the Brookings Bobcats a 36-33 ESD victory over Aberdeen Central on Friday night. The Eagles jumped out to an early 9-2 lead, but 3 three-pointers by Shana Theobold got the Bobcats right back in the game. It was a tightly played game with Central holding leads of 3 at the end of the first and at halftime, 21-18, but Brookings tied the game after 3 quarters. Brookings led most of the final period before holding on for the three point win. Central's Katie Norman had a last second look at the basket, but her shot bounced off the rim as the final buzzer sounded. Aberdeen Central was held to just three field goals in the second half. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 4-5 on the season. Next action for Aberdeen Central is tomorrow night in Brandon Valley when they take on the number two ranked team in AA.
