



Eagles fall to defending champion Yankton
Aberdeen Central was dealt their first loss of the season Friday night at the Summit Center in Yankton. Central stuggled all night from the field and from the line, losing by a score of 41-28. Central's defense was able to help out its offense, pushing the Eagles to a 2 point halftime lead, 15-13, but the Gazelles were able to use offensive rebounds and athleticism in the second half to pull away down the stretch. Aberdeen Central was outrebounded 33-14, leading to the Eagles demise. The Eagles trailed by 5 at the end of the third quarter, but that was as close as the Eagles could get the rest of the way. Dawn Sillman led the Eagles with 11 points, many of driving baskets, while Yankton got steady play from seniors Shari Johnson and Heather Nelson. With the win, Yankton regains the lead in the ESD race at 4-1. Central falls to 3-1. Next action for the Eagles is Saturday night at the Barnett Center when they play host the the state champions from North Dakota, the Fargo Shanley Deacons.
