Eagles move to 4-1 in ESD

Despite a slow start, the Golden Eagles improved to 4-1 in the ESD (4-2 overall) with a 7 point victory over the Tigers on Tuesday night at the Huron Arena. The Eagles jumped out to a 12-9 lead after the first quarter, thanks to scrappy defense and 3 pointers by Dawn Sillman and Jodi Dahlerup. The Eagles used full court defensive pressure to extend that lead to 7 at the half, 26-19. The Eagles pushed their lead to eleven at 37-26 just before the end of the third quarter, then hung on with a controlled offense and key free throws down the stretch in the final period. The Eagles were led in scoring by senior guard Dawn Sillman with 16 points. Huron was led by DeBoer, a freshman, with 16 points. Next action for Aberdeen Central is Friday night when they travel to Rapid City to play the Stevens Raiders, then play at Pierre on the trip back to Aberdeen on Saturday.
