Golden Eagles get 10th win of the season
For the second night in a row, the second quarter made the difference for Aberdeen Central. The Golden Eagles used a 22 point quarter to take a 10 point halftime lead over Brandon Valley in ESD action Friday night at the Arena. The full return of junior guard Rebecca Goodman has allowed the Eagles to really pick things up on the defensive end, causing all sorts of problems for the Lynx. Aberdeen Central was able to control the game from that end of the floor all night long, then capitalized on rebounding and transition through most of the game to get easy baskets. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles experience showed, as they were able to patiently break down the Brandon Valley defense for easy baskets or fouls and freethrows and were able to keep the Lynx at arms length throughout the period. Emily Graf led the Eagles with 15 points and 11 rebounds, the most rebounds by an Aberdeen Central player this season. With the win the Eagles improve to 10-4 on the season and 7-3 in the ESD. With four games remaining, the Eagles trail Yankton by 1 game in the ESD conference race, and still play Yankton in the last game of the season. Next action for Aberdeen Central is Friday night when they host the Huron Tigers at the Arena.
