Eagles cruise past Governors

Aberdeen Central jumped out to a 20 point first quarter and never looked back in an ESD thumping of Pierre. The Golden Eagles smothering defense early on forced many turnovers and bad shots by the Govs, leading to some beautiful transition baskets by Aberdeen. The Eagles led 20-8 after one quarter. Aberdeen Central maintained that lead throughout the middle two quarters, leading 40-27 after 3 periods, then put the clamps on defensively again in the final frame and exploded for another 20 point quarter on offense to roll to a final score of 60-36. The Eagles got double figure scoring from 4 different players, including 13 from Jaime Rice and Amber Cantalope, and 10 each from Betsy Graf and Steph Rath. With the win the Golden Eagles improve to 13-2 on the season. The Eagles play their final game of the season next Friday, when they host the Yankton Gazelles, one of the teams who gave the Eagles a loss this year.
