Golden Eagles fly past Blue Jays

The Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles dominated all phases of the first quarter and cruised to their 7th straight victory Monday night against the Jamestown Blue Jays in non-conference action. Led by Jaime Rice and Tonia Burgard, who each had 8 points in the first quarter, the Eagles used aggressive full court defensive pressure and a hard pushing transition game to jump out of the blocks early. That aggressive defense held Jamestown to only 10 field goals for the entire game. The Eagles led 19-4 at the end of the first quarter, and continued that style of play throughout the game, in posting a 58-38 victory. The Eagles got scoring from 7 different players, and were led by Rice with 17 and Burgard with 21. Burgard also added 11 rebounds. With the win, the Eagles improve to 10-2 on the season. The team is playing extremely well right now, controlling the rebounding battle and scoring in transition due to very solid defensive pressure. Next action for Aberdeen Central is Friday night when the Eagles host Huron at the Arena. Huron is one of two teams to beat Aberdeen Central this year, a 51-41 decision at Huron a month ago.
