Eagles fall to top ranked Rough Riders
Aberdeen Central found out why Sioux Falls Roosevelt is the top ranked team in AA basketball in South Dakota. After starting strong, taking a 17-14 lead after one quarter, the Eagles gave up runs to Roosevelt in the second to trail by 13 at the half. The Riders continued to play well in the second half and pushed the lead to more than 20 a number of times. The Eagles managed to pull withing 11 points at 58-47, but the Riders hit key baskets over the next few minutes to pull away to their final 21 point victory. Nicole Tendler, a 5'11" forward considered to be one the best players in South Dakota, led all scorers with 27 points. Dawn Sillman led the Golden Eagles with 19 points. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 8-5 on the season and next play host to Brookings of Friday night. This game marked the end of a long stretch of games on the road for Aberdeen Central. The Eagles have not played a home game since September 20.
