Eagles fall to Rapid City Central

Aberdeen Central suffered its second straight loss at the State AA in Huron on Friday, dropping a 62-49 decision to Rapid City Central. On Thursday vs Watertown, the Eagles saw the Arrows jump out to a big lead early and never look back. On Friday vs the Cobblers, the Golden Eagles again stumbled out of the blocks, and trailed in the first quarter 18-5. Aberdeen clawed its way back into it, thought, cutting the Rapid City lead to just 29-25 at halftime, thanks in part to 3 three pointers in the second quarter by Dawn Sillman. A pair of free throws by Jen Murphy with just under 3 minutes left in the third quarter brought the Eagles to within one, 37-36, but the Eagles would never quite get over the hump. The Cobblers outscored the Eagles 19-13 in the fourth. Senior Jen Murphy and junior Dawn Sillman led the Eagles with 14 points each. The Cobblers were led by Heather Anderson with 24 points. Aberdeen Central plays their last game of the season at 1:00 Saturday when they take on the host school, the Huron Tigers. The Eagles and the Tigers split during the regular season.
