Eagles push defense in 44-35 defeat of Pierre
The Eagles again used their defensive pressure to roll past another ESD opponent on Friday night at the Arena. The Golden Eagles did not allow the Pierre Governors a shot attempt until the 4:48 mark ofthe first period. At halftime, the Govs had only managed to get 12 shots off. Pierre coach Pat McClemans said "In practice, you can't prepare for the type of defensive pressure that Aberdeen has. They have just tremendous quickness." The Eagles led by 9 at the half and extended that lead to 12 after three quarters through balanced scoring. Nine different players scored for the Eagles. The Central girls' long homestand is now over. The Eagles have played their first six games at home, and have jumped out to a 5-1 record, 4-1 in the ESD. Now the Eagles take their defensive show on the road, playing only 2 more of their 11 remaining games at the Arena. Central next plays on Thursday night in Mitchell.
