Match Report

Belgium started this last preparation match for the World Cup with almost the same team as the one against Colombia. The team had only been changed on 1 position : Enzo Scifo was replaced by Clement, who couldn't play against Colombia because he was injured.

Belgium_Paraguay Belgium did not play a very good first half-time. The combinations did not really go very fluent, and they did not create any good chances. Just before half-time there was a good chance : after a nice action of Oliveira, Nilis was able to shoot on goal, but keeper Diaz coult stop the shot.

The second half-time was much better. A few players were replaced, and Scifo, Mpenza and De Boeck could play the second half. The defense of Paraguay constantly had problems to stop Mpenza. First he was through on goal and tried to lob keeper Diaz. Later he headed a center of Borkelmans just over the goal. Enzo Scifo played a nice match too, and had some luck on a shot : his ball fell into the goal after it was deviated on the back of Gamarra : 1-0. The crowd was really getting excited now and the Mexican wave was started. A few more chances for Belgium followed, but the score didn't change anymore.

Belgium clinched another victory in the final test before the World Cup. The final balance now is : 3 matches won, 3 matches drawn, and 1 match lost. We can go optimistic to the World Cup. We've got a good team to get past the second round at the World Cup in France. And after that, everything is possible !!
