SEC WEST
This race is coming down to the November 13th showdown between Mississippi State and Alabama - or Shaun Alexander against the Joe Lee Dunn's defense. Ole Miss is a long shot, but must beat both Alabama and MSU. Arkansas, LSU and Auburn are hoping to add some wins but only Arkansas looks to be going bowling.
Alabama- Might win out and give Shaun the Heisman. Tennessee is a big hurdle so is Miss State. Auburn has been hard to beat on thr Plains.
Mississippi State- Needs to upset Alabama to keep respect, otherwise might not lose another.
Ole Miss- Has some tough games left on schedule including Alabama and MSU. Cutcliffe has done a good first year job.
Arkansas - A disappointing year - looking to slip into a bowl. Next year looks like a rebuilding year
LSU- Dinardo has his resume ready. May repeat last year's record.
Auburn- Central Florida may give the Tigers a break, but it's no guarantee. Would love to upset Alabama at home.
SEC EAST
All of the key players have one loss in the SEC, but Florida is in the best position to win-out. They will probably defeat Georgia again and all the rest and revisit the Tide in Atlanta. Tennessee suddenly looks a little vulnerable, but not much. Only Alabama will make a serious challenge. Georgia looked good until UT stunned them - they will try to regroup. Kentucky is decent but not ready for the top three. Vanderbilt is vastly improved and may stay home for a bowl game. South Carolina is woeful and may be 0-11.
Florida - Ready to coast through the rest (in the SEC) and make travel plans in Atlanta. Georgia is biggest hurdle left.
Tennessee - Alabama will be looking for revenge and this will be the toughest time UT has had with them recently. Kentucky and Vandy are not automatic, but probable.
Georgia - Cannot beat Tennessee and Florida - seems to own the #3 spot in the SEC East
Kentucky - Bonner is good and Mumme's system is good - might compete if they were in the SEC West.
Vanderbilt - Woodyball is fun for a change. Need wins over just South Carolina and Kentucky to get a bowl bid.
South Carolina - Holtz has a long road ahead. No wins are in the periscope.
Destiny: Atlanta 12/05/98
Florida will get their revenge on Alabama and Heisman winner Shaun Alexander
