Mid-season 2001 SEC Report
Amazingly, the Tigers lead the SEC West with a 4-0 record - the only unblemished team in the conference. However, after Arkansas (who should not be taken lightly) we have three difficult games in Georgia, Alabama and LSU.
I will guess that we will not sweep all four of these, but all of these games are winable. If we win 3 of 4, we are a lock to go to Atlanta on December 8th and play in the championship. If we win only 2, we will have the tiebreaker over Ole Miss and hopefully Alabama and LSU will not sweep through their schedule including through Auburn.
Given the way things look right now, I predict the following order of finish in the SEC:
West - Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi State
East - Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky
Amazingly everyone except the bottom four will probably be bowl eligible. WWhoever happens to be 6-5 may be left on the outside looking in.
