Phillip Gargis QB 6-1 180 Birmingham (Homewood HS)
Son of Auburn great Phillip Gargis Sr. who played QB for Auburn in the 1970's. As a Senior at Homewood, Gargis passed for 1,179 yards and 11 td's, and rushed for 385 yards. Gargis may be switched to WR or DB at Auburn.

Robert Johnson TE 6-5 253 Montgomery (Jeff Davis HS)
Johnson is considered the top TE prospect in the state entering his Senior season and one of the top prospects in the South. He caught 35 passes for 400 yards his Junior year. Great hands, athletic ability and is a tremendous run blocker. Runs the 40 in 4.7. Also plays Basketball for Jeff Davis. #7 on the pre-season Birmingham News list of "Super Seniors". Johnson is fully qualified and has reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers under new coach Tommy Tuberville. Recruited by Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Kentucky. Listed as 7th best TE by Max Emfinger's Super Dixie top 300 Bluechips.

Steve Goula OG 6-7 285 Mobile (McGill-Toolen HS)
Regardless of his official size, Steve is a big, strong kid. Bench presses 340+. He was a three year starter at OG. Recruited by Duke and FSU. Listed as 7th best Strongside Offensive Tackle by Max Emfinger's Super Dixie top 300 Bluechips.

Michael Owens RB 6-0 212 Tuscumbia (Deshler HS)
Michael is truly the complete package with great speed with a 4.4 in the 40 and real power to run over tacklers. As a senior He lead Deshler HS to a 14-1 and the class 4A state championship. Michael ran for over 2100 yards and scored 29 touchdowns during his senior season. He was named the class 4A back of the year and the MVP of the 4A state championship game. Michael is a member of PigSkin Preps super 75, is rated the number 13 back in the South by the National Recruiting Advisor, is considered the top runningback in Alabama. He picked Auburn over Alabama, Georgia, FSU, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and Southern Miss.

Brandon Johnson FB/LB 6-0 225 Bayou LaBatre (Alma Bryant HS)
Deep South Recruiting rates Brandon a 9.5 on their scale while PigSkin Preps rates him the fifth best fullback prospect in the South. He is hard nosed runner with 4.55 speed in the 40 and who was named the Mobile Area Offensive Player of the Year rushing for 1335 yards with 6.5 yard per carry average. Brandon, a first team 6A All State running back, has good speed and great strength. He benches 400 pounds and squats 550 pounds. Brandon picked the Tigers over Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Tulane, and Southern Mississippi.

Marcel Willis WR 6-1 185 Jacksonville, FL (Sandalwood HS)
Marcel caught 26 passes for 510 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, a year after hauling in 27 receptions for 567 yards as a junior. Was part of the Florida Times Union Super 24. Has 4.45 speed in the 40. Marcel choose Auburn over Central Florida, Maryland, and Mississippi State.

Reggie Torbor RB 6-2 225 Baton Rouge, La. (Lee HS)
Reggie chose Auburn over Texas A&M. Was also recruited by Notre Dame, GA, MS State, and KY. He rushed for 2813 yards over the last two years.

Jeris McIntyre WR Tampa. FL (Catholic HS) Jeris, the son of former Auburn running back Sedrick McIntyre, caught 74 passes for 1,264 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. He chose the Tigers over Central Florida and Miami.

Casinious Moore RB 6-0 190 Anniston (Anniston HS)
Casinious missed several games as a senior with a sprained knee, but still rushed for 843 yards and 12 TDs as a senior. He chose Auburn over Georgia, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.

Ronald Samuels OL 6-3 260 Columbus, GA (Hardaway HS)
Ronald helped to lead Hardaway High School into the Georgia state playoffs last season. He picked Auburn over Georgia Tech.

Monreko Crittenden OL 6-6 315 Montgomery (St. Jude HS)
Monreko recorded 78 tackles and five sacks and graded out about 90 percent on the offensive line. He chose Auburn over South Carolina and Southern Mississippi.

DeAndre Green WR 6-2 209 4.4 Prichard (Blount HS)
DeAndre led Blount to three consecutive state championships. He was a member of the Birmingham Post-Herald's 10 Most Wanted. Rated by The Sporting News as one of the nation's top 100 prospects. MVP of the Class 5A state champoinship game. Chose Auburn over Tennessee and Mississippi State.

Ronney Daniels WR 6-3 210 Lake Wells, Fla.
Ronney was a 1995 Parade All-America. Has not played football since '95 Florida-Georgia All-Star Game while playing three years as a pitcher in the Montreal Expos organization. Scored 27 touchdowns as a senior and also played linebacker, recording 140 tackles as a senior. Originally signed with Florida State.

Detronn Harris WR 6-2 170 Atlanta, Ga (Westlake HS)
Detronn caught 33 passes for 562 yards and four touchdowns last season while returning five punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns. Runs the 100 meters in 10.5 seconds. Chose Auburn over Arkansas.

Travaris Robinson WR 5-10 175 Miami, Fla. (Coral Park HS)
Travaria had 49 receptions for 820 yards, also recorded 13 interceptions. Listed as No. 8 cornerback prospect by Pigskin Preps. Chose Auburn over Miami and Florida State.

Allen Tillman QB 6-1 190 Newton, Miss. (Newton HS)
Chose Auburn over LSU, Southern Mississippi, Ole Miss and Memphis. Member of Jackson (Miss) Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen. Threw for 1,398 and 18 TDs as a senior. Rushed for 618 yards and 10 TDs.

Brian HendersonWR 6-1 175 College Park, Ga. (North Clayton HS)
Caught 69 passes for 740 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior. Brian chose Auburn over Maryland, Iowa and Minnesota. "He's a big receiver and he's got excellent speed," Tuberville said. "The thing we like is that he played in a passing offense, so he knows how to run routes. He's got a lot of the basics down. Now we'll just see if he can do the job."

Defense

Phillip Pate DB 6-2 185 Birmingham (Erwin HS)
Phillip is the younger brother of Auburn's Rob Pate. He had 114 tackles and 6 interceptions (1 for a touchdown) while playing Safety at Erwin HS. He runs a 4.5 in the 40. May grow into an outside linebacker for Auburn. He was recruited by Alabama, Mississippi and Vanderbilt. Listed as 5th best Strong Safety by Max Emfinger's Super Dixie top 300 Bluechips.

Randy Vickers DB/RB 6-1 200 Athens (Athens HS)
As a Junior DB, Randy had 57 tackles and 5 interceptions (2 for touchdowns). Randy also had 1,184 yards rushing on 153 carries and 16 touchdowns as a Tailback. Helped lead Athens to a 10-1 record. Very athletic, great speed with a 4.5 in the 40 and a 35 inch verticle leap. May play Safety at Auburn. Recruited by Georgia Tech and So. Miss. Listed as 8th best Free Safety by Max Emfinger's Super Dixie top 300 Bluechips.

Dontarrious Thomas LB 6-3 190 Perry, GA (Perry HS)
Dontarrious has played defensive back, quarterback, wide receiver and linebacker over the last two years for Perry High. He is being recruited to play outside linebacker at Auburn. Dontarrious is an athlete guy who can run well with a 4.5 in the 40. He recorded 78 tackles and 6 interceptions last season. He is fully qualified and choose Auburn over NC State.

Dexter Murphy 6-2 240 DL LaGrange, GA (LaGrange HS)
Dexter was a three year starter for his high school on the offensive line and a two year starter on the defensive line. This past season Murphy was named All-Region for offensive and defense. He recorded 91 tackles, 13 for a loss, and 5 sacks. Dexter is projected as a defensive lineman at Auburn. He is academically qualified.

Clay Cleveland DL/TE 6-4 240 Daphne (Daphne HS)
Clay caught 17 passes for 200 yards and 2 TDs as a senior playing at tight end, but look for him to play defensive at Auburn. He has good speed and is athletic. Look for him to figure in at outside linebacker. Clay is also a great baseball prospect.  Deep South Recruiting Guide ranks him a 9.25. He is fully qualified and picked Auburn over Georgia Tech and South Carolina. Quoting Clay Cleveland: "We've always been Alabama fans, but it will be all right...You can't ask for a greater bunch of people. They really open their arms to you...I really like the staff they're bringing in. They're my kind of people."

Stanley JacksonDL 6-6 250 Memphis, TN (White Station HS)
Stanley's football career was in jeopardy when he tore a knee ligament before his senior season. Tommy Tuberville and his staff started recruiting Stanley while at Ole Miss. As a junior, her recorded 75 tackles and 13 sacks playing Defensive End. Quoting Stanley: "I really liked the staff...I was going to go to Ole Miss. When they (Tuberville and staff) went to Auburn, I still liked them and I liked the school."

Frank Walker LB/TE 6-4 220 Columbus, GA (Hardaway HS)
Frank helped to lead Hardaway High School into the Georgia state playoffs last season. He starred on both sides of the ball last season, catching 21 passes for 359 yards and five touchdowns and recording 80 tackles and five sacks from his linebacker post. Frank picked Auburn over Georgia Tech.

DeMarco McNeil DT 6-1 295 Prichard (Blount HS)
Alabama's "Mr. Football" chose the Tigers over Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. DeMarco led Blount High School to three consecutive state championships, had 129 tackles and 16 sacks last season. As a junior, he had 132 tackles and 23 sacks.

Don Page LB 6-4 230 Foley
Don will not participate in spring drills, but counts toward 1999 scholarship totals. Had 22 career sacks and rushed for 475 yards as a fullback. Member of Birmingham Post-Herald's 1998 Most Wanted.

Stanford Simmons DB 6-2 200 Ashland (Hargrave Military Academy, Va.)
Stanford was a Parade All-America in 1997. Signed last two seasons with Auburn. Is leading candidate for free safety position vacated by Brad Ware. At Hargrave, intercepted 12 passes in eight games. At Clay County High, recorded 71 tackles and eight interceptions as a senior. Chose Auburn over Georgia and was a member of the Birmingham Post-Herald's 10 Most Wanted in 1996.

Ryan Bushey DL 6-4 255 Milford Prep, Conn.
Ryan recorded more than 100 tackles and nine sacks at Manchester High School. Chose Auburn over Michigan State and Ole Miss.

Roshard Golyard DB 5-11 195 Jacksonville, Fla. (White HS)
Roshard averaged 11 yards per carry as a senior; was 28-2 as a starting quarterback. Max Emfinger lists him among nation's top 10 free safeties. Runs 100 meters in 10.6 seconds. Also considered Ohio State.
