If you don't know that Christian went to Duke University, you are sadly out of touch. He says everyone tried to recruit him, but he chose Duke because he admired Mike Krzyzewski (shuh SHEF skeee) and the school's academic reputation. It was a young program, not set in it's ways, and he liked that aspect too. So off he went to Duke and played understudy to senior Danny Ferry. People actually heralded him as the "next Danny Ferry" (but remember, at the time, that was a compliment). During his four years at Duke, he earned the reputation as a big-game player, proving himself over and over again in notable games such as the famous (or is it infamous) Kentucky/Duke 1992 playoff game, where he hit the game-winning shot in overtime (big surprise--he didn't miss a shot all night.)
Ok, so maybe he's not known as the nicest guy ever to play for Duke. He was almost as tough on his teammates as he was on his opponents. Former Duke teammates (like Bobby Hurley, Cherokee Parks, and Grant Hill)admit that he was just trying to push everyone around him to reach new heights in their respective games, but that it could be as annoying as hell. "He's fun to be around, because he's always trying to challenge you," says Grant Hill, adding, "and you want to hurt him sooo bad!"
