Congratulations to the 96-97 season champion Chicago Bulls
The Nets season in review:
The Nets have officially began their rebuilding process. As with
most teams, the wins don't start coming right away. The Nets
finished the season a dismal 26-56, six games worse than last
year. But there were some positive notes during the season.
Kendall Gill finished 11th in the league in scoring, averaging
21.8 points per game. Had it not been for an injury to Jayson
Williams, he would have been at least third in rebounding (13.5
in 41 games). Kerry Kittle also put up big numbers in many games
during the season and made the second all-rookie team. A big
trade also brought in possible all-stars Chris Gattling and Jim
Jackson. Jim Jackson was then sent onto Philadelphia along with
Eric Montross, and the two draft picks for Don McLean, Michael
Cage, Lucious Harris, and Keith Van Horn. This, of course,
leaves a whole at the starting center position, which could be
filled with the trade rumors of Jayson Williams. The Nets as a
team, showed signs of life during parts of the season, including
back to back victories against the Bulls and Knicks.
