I thought the season went very well, considering that 90% of these girls had just come up
to class III from the recreational program. If you look at the scores of the games, you'll
notice that the team was never blown out. What's even more amazing is we dominated 75% of
the games we lost. Just couldn't put the ball in the goal. Still not bad.
What this tells me is that we had a great defense. A weak mid field and good forwards that
just couldn't finish. So Pete and I have consciously been working to develop existing players and bring in
new players for the forward and mid field positions. I think it's working cause we are 12-2-1
this spring and scoring is no longer a problem.
Pete and I are very happy with the team and the direction it's going. All the girls on
the team have improved their soccer skills over the past 9 months. They are enjoying
the game more than ever. We've been told by many coaches in our area that we have one of the
most improved teams around. That complement is just what we were looking for. Cause if
you keep improving, the winning will come.
Isn't improving the childrens skills, be them soccer or life skills what it's all about.
We coaches have a chance to make the world a better place, one child at a time.
