The second game of the tournament was Saturday 3:30 against Orangevale. They are a very good team, alomst pure under 16. Oragevale controled the beginning of the game. Their passing was very nice. Around the 20 minute mark, Vanessa Molina recieved a passed on the top of the box. Took about two steps and shot. The Stars where up 1-0. The Orangevale team was controlling the outsides but the Stars kept going up the middle. In the second half, both teams played hard. But after 32 minutes, Oragevale scored with 3 minutes left. The final score was 1-1, very good game. The Orangevale team was the best team in the tournament.
The third game was Sunday morning at 10:30am. We played Momentum from Danville. We started out good. We controled the first 10 minutes. Danville had a couple runs down the wings, very fast wings. Danville got a fast break down the left wing, Shelley slid the player from the back outside. The player was just inside the box, referee gave Danville a penality kick(questionable) and they were up 1-0 on the 10 minute mark. Five minutes later Danville had a corner kick and we were called for a hand ball in the box. Bad call, the ball bounced up and hit a player in the elbow. Inadvertant! Danville was now up 2-0. In the second half the Stars came out and took over the game. Alexandra Cuccias scored on the 40 minute mark. She recievd the ball on the top of the box, took two steps into the box and put the ball into the top right corner. About 10 minutes later, Kristy Silva recieved the ball in the box, took a shot, it bounced off a defender and rolled into the goal. The Stars pushed very hard, tring to get one more goal. Cause a tie sent Danville to the finals and the Stars home. The Danville coach stalled, subing on every opertunity. Just like I would have if I had the chance. The game ended up in a 2-2 tie. The Stars had fought back from 2-0 down to tie the game. Once again the girls proved how much heart they have. Most teams would have quit being down 2-0. But not the Stars!
That was the end of the tournament for us. Danville ended up with 20 points, Orangevale 19 and we had 18. Folsom finished with 0. It was a very tight flight.
