![]() Portugal is undoubtedly the country having the best natural conditions for bodyboarding in Europe, as any respectable figure of the sport will tell you. About half of its border is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. 75% of mainland Portugal's coast faces west and most of this portion is completely open to the north Atlantic swells. The remaining 25% encompasses most of the Algarve's coast and faces the south quadrant. The first portion is unquestionably the one to focus on if you really want to get some action.

South ZoneIn the Lisbon region, say within a 75 km radius lie a lot of fine spots, the most impressive being in the Ericeira area. Some call this 5 km long strip of land a miracle, much like Oahu's north shore, in Hawaii. Other popular spots around Lisbon include Praia Grande, Guincho, Carcavelos and Costa da Caparica.
