To everyone who has supported Barnet FC's fight for survival over the
last few months.
As I write, our situation is looking extremely grim. With five
months
to go the revised plans for Copthall stadium have not been submitted
and
it is doubtful whether they ever will be. I don't have the exact details
of what has gone wrong, but the club may be beginning to wind down.
There has been talk in the local press of planning permission being
sought for a housing development on our present ground and it is
beginning to look as if we have run out of options.
When we have more detailed information I will let you all know - at
the
moment I am not sure what action the KBA can take. Your support
remains
very important, however, and particularly continuing publicity for
our
plight.
One of our problems has always been the small size of our crowds - on
Tuesday night when we beat Carlisle 3-0 we only had 1700 - but this
does
not mean we have no right to exist. If Barnet FC dies, it will
have
done so not because it was too small to matter but because football
is
being taken away from the people who love it and given to the marketing
men as a series of 90 minute adverts for replica shirts. If it
happens
to us it could - and eventually will - happen to you.
