TEAMTALK

         Disappointing Start
United began the new season in disappointing fashion going down to newly
promoted Peterborough 1-0 at the Manor ground.
Peterborough midfielder David Farrell struck in the first half to give promoted
Posh a flying start after Oxford were caught cold.
Indeed, the visitors were much the better side in the first half and Farrell
turned in a right wing cross from Francis Green after half an hour.
Oxfords all-new defence looked dis-jointed with Posh finding plenty of space in
between the U's back-three, and which lead to them taking the lead.
However, they improved after the break when they switched to a 4-4-2
formation, but it was up-front that Oxford seemed to be lacking and they were
unable to take their chances to equalise and Barry Fry's side held on for the
         win.
So not the start to the new season that Denis Smith would have wanted and he
will be looking for a better team performance away to Port Vale next weekend.
