Visit With Julie

Oct. 3: I went to visit Julie this weekend in Maryland. Friday Jeff picked me up about 1pm and we hopped on the car and headed toward MD. It was a long drive. We went through NY, NJ, Delaware, and Finally Maryland. We arrive at 7:15, and picked up Julie who was happy to see both of us, and her friends knew we would be arriving. They proceeded to tell us how excited she had been all day. Anyway, she finished packing for the the weekend and met us in front. She told us that because of what was going on in D.C. (A religious event of some 700,000 people) she was unable to book us a hotel room in an inexpensive hotel. But with a little help from Jeff and Julie's dad we secured a place only about 15 minutes from Ft. Meade. We checked in and then got settled in, but only had a few minutes before Julie wanted to take us to a place which has become a frequent hot spot for her and her friends. I forgot to mention that Julie brought a friend Katey Carney. She was from Lousiana and formally dressed for the evening even though it wasn't a flashy place. I guess what attracted the girls to this place, Remingtons is was called, was they have Karoke. Julie and Jeff being the singers of course took advantage. It was a great night of hanging out and being with friends. Saturday we spent the entire day in Inner Harbor looking around and mostly shopping due to the heat. Jeff, Julie and I were completely unprepared for warm weather, so needless to say we were uncomfortable. We spent a good portion of the day in the air conditioned mall and stayed cool. Although we did look at some of the ships on Display in the harbor. At 6:30 we met my cousin Juan who lives in Annapolis, only about 10-15minutes from Ft. Meade. He treated us to a nice dinner in a neighborhood called Little Italy. It was nice. He then had us follow him back to Laurel and we went out for a drink , Julie excluded from the drinking, because I couldn't let him pay for dinner and not return the favor. On the way home we were stuck in traffic because of the Balt. Orioles game and while in traffic some damn teenagers through a napkin filled with Ketchup into our car and mostly splattered Jeff, but got a little on me as well. Jeff was mad and was ready to kill. We continued to follow Juan though. Sunday, we woke up and went out to breakfast at an IHOP, although that caused problems. Jeff and Julie pointed out the NO No's of running a restaurant, and by the time we left Julie had found the womens bathroom to be a disgrace and voiced her displeasure to the Manager on duty. I hid in the corner. It is interesting to see that Julie is no longer to shy to say what she feels. Anyway, after that Jeff and I took her back to Ft Meade and we spent some time at the PX, the store on base. Then played pool for a little while in Julie's barracks and left at about 3:30 for home. It was sad leaving, but we got through it. I got some experience driving standard, some embarrassing events took place while I driving, stalling and peeling out, but we made it home in one piece. I arrived in Newburgh at 8:30pm and Jeff arrived at home probably around 10:30 or 11 depending on traffic. It was a great weekend. Short, but great nonetheless. I would do it over again if I could. Julie currently has 3 weeks left until she comes home. I am excited.
