Review of Division - Paradise Lost

Division- With their debut CD, Division shows an amazing amount of musical diversity. Some tracks, such as "Paradise Lost" will just blow your balls off with ripp-roaring, in-your-face guitar work, while tracks such as "My Life" are so melodic, you wonder how it can be the same band.

It took a few plays for me to get used to the vocals of Scott Stewart. Unlike most metal frontmen, Stewart has a low range. This certainly produces a unique effect when mixed with classic metal-squelching guitarwork. The more I listen to this CD, the more it grows on me.

After listening to this CD a few times, I think I have singled out my four favorites on it. First, is "My Life", which I think is when Division really comes together...you can just hear it, they are all on the same page. Second, is "Beginnings" which for some reason just sticks in your mind. Third, "Free" may have the best lyrics on the whole CD and is just an all-around kick-ass tune. And finally, "In the Name of Honour" is a good tune that reminds me of late 80's Metallica.

If I had one complaint about the CD, it would be the lyrics. Many of the lines have been used before, and seem regurgitated. Despite this, I would recommend adding this CD to your collection.
