The New Specksynder Report

Specksynder News - August 7, 1998.
The 50th Session Search Engine is now fully functional and contains all the session's bills and resolutions.

Check out our comments on the SBP's proposal to expand the Corps Escort Service (improving campus safety is always a great idea).

Another poll is online, let us know what you think of the new format. Our E-Mailbox is always open.

A special "thank you" to Brian Minyard, a student senator from the 50th Session, who pointed out an error in last week's Student Knowledge Survey. Find the details with the poll results. If you miss the old stuff, visit our archive.

  • Hazing (Aug. 11-18)
  • PTTS (Aug. 19-Sept. 1)
  • Hopwood (Sept. 1-Sept. 20)
  • Traditions (Sept. 20-Apr. 3)
  • Student Knowledge (July 8-July 29)
  • On-campus Circus (July 30-Aug. 6)

  • The SBP Watch
Laurie Nickel is already hard at work helping the students. Issues she is concerned with include:
  • expanding the Corps Escort Service to West campus
  • researching Rec Sports' request for a higher Rec Center Fee
  • expanding the use of Aggie Bucks.

You can visit the Student Body President's Website to learn more or send Ms. Nickel your comments. At the website, Ms. Nickel's platform is online. Not many politicians will remind you of their campaign promises after they've been put into office, but then, Ms. Nickel's not like many politicians.

  • Texas A&M's Fee Phenomenon
We regret to inform you that the Specksynder was right. According to the Texas Higher Education Board's 1997-98 figures, Texas A&M University now has the highest tuition and required fees among Texas public universities. Look at the rankings for yourself.
