Whatcha need to know:

Boink! was a punk band based out of the University of Dayton, in lovely Dayton, Ohio during the spring of 1998. The band was started by Brendan Diven, who did lead vocals and guitar and most of the songwriting. Originally, it was going to be a ska band, but that didn't work out.
I (Keith Klein) joined Brendan early on as the bassist. I also did all the backup vocals. Later, after going through several other candidates, we landed Jaime D'Amico as our drummer. One of the interesting things about us was our very different musical backgrounds. Brendan is all about punk and ska, I'm into the modern rock scene, and Jaime is into jazz.

We played two shows. Our first show, before we even had a drummer, was at a local coffeehouse, the Daily Grind. It was good. A guy from a local record company gave us many compliments, as did the other caffine addicts. Our other show was at UD's on-campus bar, The Pub, on April 2, 1998. People danced. People cheered. People actually paid money to see us. It was very good.

News:

-Boink! is defunct because Brendan left Dayton.
-Brendan now resides in Pittsburgh.
-The band was reunited briefly during UD Homecoming 1998. There is no plan for a reunion.

A big THANK YOU to all our friends and fans who came to see us play. Thanks also to my friend Aimee who was a photographer for the school paper and got us copies of the pictures she took at the April 2 show. Thanks also to the other reporter who did an article about us. We should also thank the soundman at the show who made a tape for us, and everyone who loaned us equipment or let us practice in their house.

Finally. . .

Some of our (i.e. Brendan's) songs were somewhat offensive, but it was all meant in good fun. If we made one person laugh and one person dance, then it was all worthwhile. We were looking forward to playing more shows in the Dayton area, and maybe even putting out a CD, but sadly, it was not meant to be. Oh well.
