The Pan-Hellenic Council serves as a
standard-setting and implementing body for the affiliate organizations in
the areas of educational programming, community service, social functions,
and the intake of new members. It also monitors and regulates the actions
of member organizations as they affect campus life.

Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., founded at Cornell University on
December 4, 1906, is the first predominantly African American collegiate
fraternity started in the United States. It strives to promote
scholarship, manly deeds, and love for all mankind.

Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, founded on January 16, 1908, at Howard
University, was organized to “cultivate and encourage high scholastic
and ethical standards, improve the social stature of the Negro, promote
unity and friendship among college women and keep alive within the alumnae
an interest in college life....”
Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., was founded and chartered January 5,
1911, on the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington. Each chapter of
the fraternity has the same fundamental purpose, which is “achievement
in every field of human endeavor.”
Omega
Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., founded on November 17, 1911, at
Howard University, was organized on the four cardinal principles of
manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift. Conceived for the purpose
of linking men of like ideals and similar attainments, the Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity, Inc., has impacted the lives of many young people across the
globe. The membership of the fraternity is well over 100,000, with over
675 undergraduate and graduate chapters in the United States, Europe,
Africa, Central and Latin America and Asia.
Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was founded on January 13, 1913 at
Howard University by 22 undergraduate women. These young women wanted to
use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to
provide assistance to persons in need. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.,
has a membership of over 190,000 predominately African-American,
college-educated women. The Sorority currently has 870-plus chapters
located in the United States, Japan, Germany, Bermuda, Haiti, Liberia, the
Bahamas, the Republic of Korea and the Virgin Islands.

Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
The basic purpose of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity is to foster brotherhood,
service, and scholarship. Phi Beta Sigma is a real brotherhood dedicated
to service through application of education obtained in scholarship.
Founded at Howard University on January 9, 1914 by the Most Honorable and
Noble Abraham L. Taylor, Most Honorable and Noble Charles I. Brown, and
Most Honorable and Noble Leonard F. Morse. It has been a service
organization since its founding and has implemented many programs geared
towards service to people in their various communities.
Zeta
Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, founded at Howard University on January 16,
1920, was incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia on March
30, 1923. The objectives of finer womanhood, sisterly love, and
scholarship have brought together women from all parts of the world, women
who have similar tastes and aspirations, similar potential for the highest
personal attainment, and similar desires for concerted action to improve
the conditions of the African communities around the world.
Sigma
Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., was organized in 1922 on the campus of
Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. The sorority was incorporated
under the laws of the State of Indiana in 1929. Its slogan, “Greater
Service, Greater Progress,” serves as a foundation for its objectives,
projects, and activities.

Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
Founded in 1963 at Morgan State University, Iota Phi Theta aims to mold
young men into viable contributors to the organization and to society.
