IL Zeta Chapter
Welcome to the Illinois Zeta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi
On October 26, 1895, with nine members, the Illinois Zeta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi was founded at the University of Illinois.
When women came to the University three years prior, in 1892, the idea became popular to organize local social groups which would later petition to become national women's fraternities. The thirty women on campus divided into two group which later became Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Alpha Theta.
Pi Phi's began by renting a small home on First and Green, but today the Pi Beta Phi house can be found at 1005 S. Wright Street. Recently celebrating it's centennial, Pi Phi's is home to over 50 women, and serves as a "home away from home" for nearly 100 active members, and many alumni.
