SKYDIVING 1999
This year we decided to be a little more adventurous. It was Little Harpreet and Kim's idea to go skydiving. We went to Skydive Monterey Bay. They had their own and plane and landing field. When we got there, we had to watch some videos and sign our life away (the liability waiver forms). We then took a crash course on what was going to happen. They showed us how we were supposed to jump out of the plane and how to land properly.
We each had a jump master, who was certified, and our own cameraman. The nine of us got onto the plane. The told us to never say "no" if we wanted to back out. Why? Because "no" sometimes sounds like "go". I think we were ready.
Harpreet probably had it the worst. They had opened the door and put her into position to jump. But, the plane wasn't over the jump zone, so she had to stand there for about 5 minutes looking outside. When we got ready to jump, her face went completely pale. I think it finally hit her. After she jumped, Kim and I looked at each other and said "she did it". One minute she was there, next she was gone. Kim jumped second. Her instructor had her sit at the edge of the plane. They did a somersault as they fell out. It looked pretty cool. She looked the most relaxed. I jumped last and was thankful for it. My pictures turned out the best. Only my pictures were scanned. Once I get Harpreet's and Kim's, I'll put them up.
Skydiving is something everyone should try. None of us worried about the parachute not opening or some other tragic event would occur. The mindset was that we were going to jump, no matter what. Skydive Monterey Bay was an excellent location to jump. The scenery is beautiful and everyone there was great.
